Quinta dos Murças Reserva comes from old vines planted at altitudes between 150m (490 ft) and 280 meters (915 ft), facing west. This is the classic version of a ‘quinta’ (estate) wine, where the emphasis is on the terroir to produce elegant wines with great aging potential.
Very wet winter and spring, with low temperatures, followed by a dry and hot summer until middle of September, when intense rainfall started. By this time the harvest had ended, and the grapes had been harvested in a perfect state of ripeness.

This Douro DOC Reserva wine originates from the two oldest vineyards at the Quinta, planted at an altitude of 100 m and 300 m, facing south and south-west, in schist soils, and is produced respecting nature and by following sustainable agricultural methods. It showcases the Douro old vines’ potential for producing remarkably elegant wines with good ageing potential.
At our winery, the grapes are selected manually, trodden in granite tanks and pressed in an old vertical press.
