Esporão Reserva was the first Esporão wine, launched in 1985. It was the result of a unique combination of the characteristics lent by the grape varieties, soils, the maturity of the vineyards and the efforts of the people who made it happen. This is third certified organic harvest. The wine is made exclusively from grapes grown on our own land, vinified in stainless steel vats and new American and French oak barrels, followed by ageing on fine lees in those same containers.
Esporão Reserva Branco 2021 is a fitting reflection of a year when mild temperatures and adequate rainfall allowed the grapes to ripen in a balanced way. Straw-coloured with greenish hints, its aroma has notes of tangerine and lemon, with a touch of mint complemented by white pepper and nutmeg. It is intense on the palate, yet harmoniously balanced between fruit and spices.
Every vintage Esporão commissions an artist to personalize that harvest’s labels. To date, Esporão has enjoyed the generosity and talent of more than 30 Portuguese artists, plus two from Angola, and one each from Brazil and the Netherlands. This year’s Esporão Reserva is illustrated by Abel Mota, the youngest artist ever to undertake the task.
