Quinta do Ameal joins the Vinho Verde Wine Route

The Quinta do Ameal estate, located in the Lima valley and a pioneer in establishing the Loureiro grape variety, is now part of the Vinho Verde wine route.

“We believe the Vinho Verde Route is one of the most dynamic in the country, and it has done extraordinary work to promote and develop wine tourism in the region. Quinta do Ameal offers a series of unique features and experiences for those who visit us and, by joining the Vinho Verde Route, we want to help promote this region even more”, notes António Roquette, head of Esporão’s Wine Tourism.

The Quinta do Ameal estate features approximately 30 hectares, including 800 metres of riverbank on the Lima River. Visitors can enjoy a comfortable wine tourism experience, where they can carry out numerous activities in harmony with the surrounding area. Bicycle rides, guided kayak tours in the Lima or Vez rivers, trails through the Peneda Gerês National Park and river trekking on the Adrão River, are some of the experiences available at Quinta do Ameal.

Quinta do Ameal can accommodate visitors at the Casa Grande (Main House) and Casa da Vinha (Vineyard House). At Casa Grande, in addition to a common living room where hosts can enjoy wine tastings and meals (by reservation), the three independent suites – Jardim (Garden), Camélia (Camellia) and Glicínia (Wisteria) provide comfort and total privacy. All the suites feature a fully equipped kitchen, king size bed, underfloor heating, fireplace, and large windows that maximise natural light. Casa da Vinha is a villa with two suites, an outdoor Asian shower and a porch that offers complete tranquillity.

Quinta do Ameal’s location and the diversity of its soils, along with a unique microclimate and sustainable farming practices that respect nature, give us singular wines that reflect different expressions of the Loureiro grape variety. Quinta do Ameal offers wine lovers two tastings – the Ameal Tasting and Singular Tasting – which also include a tour of the winery and the vineyards.

The Vinho Verde Route, promoted by the Vinho Verde Region’s Viticulture Commission, spans 49 councils in north-eastern Portugal and includes farms, wineries, restaurants, accommodation units and tourism companies that offer various activities and itineraries, providing wine-related cultural experiences.
